MGM (Maurice Giraud Montagne), the biggest property developer in the French Alps, is based at Chamonix, the capital of Alpine skiing in the shadow of Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest peak. Later this year the headquarters will be relocated to Annecy.
The £110 million (€160 million) turnover family business, established in 1963, today employs around 100 people engaged in the planning, design, construction and marketing of apartments, chalets and villas in the French Alps and around Lake Annecy.
In the Savoie and Haute Savoie areas of the French Alps, where it has been active for more than 40 years, MGM enjoys an enviable reputation as the leading developer in the Rhone Alps region, having built properties in many of the best ski resorts to standards which present a tough challenge to rival developers. Recently the company has extended its activities south to the Hautes Alpes region.
